26 – 27 Οκτωβρίου 2024 Istanbul Αγαπητοί συνάδελφοι, Φίλες και φίλοι, Με ιδιαίτερη χαρά σας καλωσορίζω στην Κωνσταντινούπολη για την επερχόμενη κοινή ημερίδα που διοργανώνεται μετά από συνεργασία της Ελληνικής και της Τουρκικής Εταιρείας Χειρουργικής Ενδοκρινών Αδένων και έχει προγραμματιστεί για τις 26 Οκτωβρίου 2024. Η ημερίδα αυτή έχει ως στόχο να ενώσει συναδέλφους ιατρούς από τις δύο πλευρές του Αιγαίου για να μοιραστούν γνώσεις, να οικοδομήσουν φιλίες και να γιορτάσουν τη φιλοξενία. Η θεματολογία της ημερίδας θα περιστραφεί γύρω από τη διαχείριση του καρκίνου του θυρεοειδούς, διερευνώντας την εξέλιξη της διάγνωσης και της θεραπείας τα τελευταία σαράντα χρόνια, καθώς και τις πιο πρόσφατες εξελίξεις και τις τεχνολογίες στον τομέα αυτό. Θα συζητηθούν ιδιαιτερότητες στην διαχείριση των ασθενών στην καθημερινή κλινική πρακτική στις χώρες μας. Το επιστημονικό πρόγραμμα αποτελείται από διαλέξεις, στρογγυλά τραπέζια και διαδραστικές παρουσιάσεις περιστατικών, όπου θα ενθαρρύνεται η συμμετοχή του ακροατηρίου στη συζήτηση των περιστατικών. Θα συμπεριληφθούν επίσης παρουσιάσεις αναρτημένων ανακοινώσεων. Η Κωνσταντινούπολη, μια γοητευτική και ιστορική πόλη, υπήρξε πρωτεύουσα πολλών αυτοκρατοριών κατά τη διάρκεια της ιστορίας και συνεχίζει να διαθέτει πλούσια πολιτιστική κληρονομιά. Ένα βραδινό κοινωνικό πρόγραμματο Σάββατο 26 Οκτωβρίου μετά το πέρας του επιστημονικού προγράμματος και την Κυριακή 27 Οκτωβρίου θα επιτρέψει στους συμμετέχοντες να συνδεθούν με συναδέλφους, να απολαύσουν την εκπληκτική θέα του Βοσπόρου και να εξερευνήσουν τα σημαντικά ορόσημα της ιστορικής χερσονήσου. Είμαστε ενθουσιασμένοι για τη συνδιοργάνωση της ημερίδας αυτής στην Κωνσταντινούπολη. Dear Colleagues and Friends, It is an honour and privilege to be hosting the 11th Conference of the European Society of Endocrine Surgeons in Galenos’ hometown of Izmir. Innovations in the field of surgery have had a significant impact on subspecialties, including endocrine surgery. Technology’s effect on surgical care is a cutting-edge topic that ESES monitors in order to update colleagues on the developments in patient care; particularly of improvements in safety of management for endocrine diseases and quality of outcomes. The ESES 2025 Conference program focusses on the latest developments in endocrine surgical care and seeks to establish consensus statements, supported by your votes as delegates. For the latter, the scientific program includes taskforce group presentations, discussions with the audience, and electronic voting. Supported by the industry exhibitions and workshops, the pre-conference courses will be also be devoted to the education and application of new technologies in the treatment of endocrine diseases. Η αλματώδης τεχνολογική ανάπτυξη που βρίσκει καθημερινά εφαρμογές σε όλα τα πεδία της
ιατρικής κλινικής πράξης δεν θα μπορούσε να αφήσει ανεπηρέαστη την χειρουργική του
Θυρεοειδούς Αδένα. Έτσι, η ενσωμάτωση της συστηματικής χρήσης της διεγχειρητικής
νευροπαρακολούθησης των παλίνδρομων λαρυγγικών και πνευμονογαστρικών νεύρων είναιπλέον
ένα αδιαμφισβήτητο γεγονός. Σήμερα στην Ελλάδα υπολογίζεται ότι διενεργούνται περίπου
9.000 θυρεοειδεκτομές ετησίως. Μέσα στο 2023, σε περισσότερες από 6500 επεμβάσεις
θυρεοειδούς έχει χρησιμοποιηθεί νευροδιεγέρτης.
Η νευροδιέγερση που χρησιμοποιείται είναι κυρίως η διαλείπουσα αλλά συνεχώς αυξάνεται η
χρήση και της συνεχούς νευροδιέγερσης. Έτσι, μεγάλη σημασία δίνεται σήμερα στην εκπαίδευση
των χειρουργών στην συνεχή νευροδιέγερση. Στην Ευρώπη η χρήση της αγγίζει το 10% των
περιστατικών στα οποία χρησιμοποιείται νευροδιέγερση ενώ και στην Ελλάδα τα ποσοστά
παραμένουν χαμηλά. Στόχος της Ελληνικής Ομάδας Νευροπαρακολούθησης είναι να αυξηθεί η
χρήση της συνεχούς νευροδιέγερσης με την εκπαίδευση όλο και περισσοτέρων χειρουργών.
Η συνεχής νευροδιέγερση πλεονεκτεί της διαλείπουσας νευροδιέγερσης που ήδη χρησιμοποιείται
λόγω της συνεχούς καταγραφής της λειτουργίας των νεύρων και της έγκαιρης πληροφόρησης που
παρέχει στο χειρουργό στις περιπτώσεις χειρισμών που επηρεάζουν τη σωστή λειτουργία τους. Έτσι
ο χειρουργός μπορεί να τροποποιήσει άμεσα τους χειρισμούς του στο νεύρο ώστε να αποφευχθεί η
επερχόμενη βλάβη.
Σκοπός του παρόντος εκπαιδευτικού σεμιναρίου είναι να δειχθεί η σωστή χρήση τόσο της συνεχούς
όσο και της διαλείπουσας νευροδιέγερσης καθώς και η βέλτιστη διαχείριση των, εκ της
νευροδιέγερσης, απορρεουσών πληροφοριών που θα χρησιμοποιηθούν από το θεράποντα
χειρουργό για την επιλογή της καταλληλότερης στρατηγικής προς όφελος του ασθενούς.
Ευελπιστώ, το εκπαιδευτικό αυτό σεμινάριο να ανταποκριθεί στις προσδοκίες σας και να σας δώσει
τη δυνατότητα να χρησιμοποιείτε τη διεγχειρητική νευροπαρακολούθηση αποκομίζοντας τα μέγιστα

Dear BAETS members,
I am very happy to formally invite you attend the 2023 meeting in Athens from 11th to 13th October 2023.
The meeting is organised with the generous help of our Greek colleagues, Dr Kyriakos Vamvakidis and Dr Giannis Koutelidakis. They have secured a wonderful venue for the meeting and have organised an excellent educational day on 11th October targeted to surgical trainees but equally attractive for all ‘senior’ members. It will make it worthwhile to travel early on Wednesday 11th October to ensure you can benefit from these sessions.
The value of the meeting is secured through the quality of the presentations, so I encourage all BAETS members to submit abstracts before the deadline on Friday 7th July. The abstracts with top marks will be eligible for the BJS Prize (see the Abstracts page for more details).
In addition, I am pleased to announce the BJS Lecture from Professor Julie Sosa, the Hunterian Professor Lecture by Mr David Scott-Coombes and the plenary lecture on adrenal imaging by Dr Mark Gurnell. All these will enhance the educational value of our meeting.
The chance to meet old friends, make new friends, to share experience and to meet inspiring trainees will all be facilitated by the excellent surroundings and the social events.
Altogether, 2023 should be an excellent meeting not to be missed.
I am very grateful to the Greek surgical community for being our host and for all their efforts to make this meeting a mutually beneficial experience for all surgeons.

Dear colleagues and friends,
It is a great pleasure for us to invite you to Athens in order to attend the 43rd Meeting of the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons. We are honored to have been appointed by our British colleagues to organize this meeting in Athens.
Along with the Hellenic Society of Endocrine Surgeons, we are eager to welcome all BAETS members, Greek and European surgeons interested in Endocrine Surgery. In cooperation with the Executive Committee of the British Society, we have devised a program that includes live training and all the latest scientific developments with the participation of highly esteemed guests.
The venue of the congress is located close to the Athens Riviera and within 15min distance from the center of Athens. Participants will have the opportunity to visit all the historical sites, taking advantage of the enjoyable weather of that season in Greece. They can also visit the port of Piraeus and the marinas nearby. The Gala Dinner is going to be held on a terrace with an amazing view, overlooking the Parthenon by night.
We would like to deeply thank in advance all the participants in this meeting which, besides the scientific interest, promises them a true flavor of Athens and Greece.

Με μεγάλη επιτυχία και την συμμετοχή μεγάλου αριθμού χειρουργών με ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον για την Ενδοκρινική Χειρουργική πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Royal Olympic η ημερίδα με θέμα «Η διεγχειρητική νευροπαρακαλούθηση κατά την θυρεοειδεκτομή» και την παρουσία ως κεντρικού ομιλητή του Γερμανού Καθηγητή κ. Henning Dralle.
Η εκδήλωση πραγματοποιήθηκε από την ΓΕΤΡΙΜΕΝΤ ΕΠΕ, τον επίσημο αντιπρόσωπο της Medtronic και τελούσε υπό την αιγίδα της Ελληνικής Εταιρείας Χειρουργικής Ενδοκρινών Αδένων.
Ο κεντρικός ομιλητής καθ. Henning Dralle μίλησε για την αναγκαιότητα και τα οφέλη της χρήσης του νευροδιεγέρτη στην χειρουργική του θυρεοειδούς αδένα.
Ο κ. H.Dralle είναι o Διευθυντής της Χειρουργικής Κλινικής του Πανεπιστημίου του Halle και πρωτοπόρος στην χρήση νευροδιεγέρτη στην χειρουργική του θυρεοειδούς αδένα και είναι ο άνθρωπος που καθιέρωσε την χρήση του σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο.
